"This is the second AHS Book Award for Cullina, whose Growing and Propagating Wildflowers of the United States and Canada earned an award in 2000. “This is my top choice of all the books we reviewed this year,” said Ray Rogers. “It is astoundingly well written and leaves most other orchid books in the dust.” Linda Askey said the book “was very readable while also including detailed information on a complex topic—a difficult combination to achieve.” 2005 American Horticultural Society Award Announcment "Cullina . . . is extremely well versed in his subject and a skilled writer. His lively text, with its clear instructions, will make orchid growing as irresistible to readers as it is to Cullina." Publishers Weekly This is my FAVORITE book on plants I've ever read--well organized, oxygen-wrenching pictures... And yes, I actually read EVERY WORD (aside from the glossary), (Good Reads reviewer) I believe that this is the best book out there on orchids. Mr Cullina covers the important and often allusive culture issues confronted in growing orchids in real depth. He provides thoughtful, comon sense explanations for his reccomendations that go way beyond those found in other books I have read on the subject. Bard Prentiss "Bog Man" |
